Dolores Suarez and Caroline Grant founded Soho based design firm Dekar Design in 2003. Our design philosophy embraces classical and timeless elements. Whether customizing an ultra modern loft space in a new development or re-imagining a century old West Village townhouse, we approach each project with a particular sensitivity to architecture to create distinct and authentic spaces.
As native New Yorkers, the duo started exclusively in decorative painting and evolved into a residential and commercial interior design firm. Dekar approaches their hospitality projects from a residential perspective to bring a comfortable and lived-in environment to a commercial space. From New York to Los Angeles, Toronto and Vietnam, Dekar has brought precision tuned personality to residential and hospitality projects.
Dekar has been nominated for a Travel & Leisure Design Award and named one of America’s “Top Young Interior Designers” by House Beautiful. Dolores and Caroline were thrilled to be on the cover of Domino Magazine, as well as featured in The World of Interiors, Vogue, New York Post, Glamour, The Wall Street Journal, and New York Magazine. The firm's work was featured in Dark Nostalgia, published by Random House, and is developing their custom wallpaper, tile, and lighting line.
